Waynetown - Mrs. Martha Harper, 88, resident of the communities for many years, died at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mapleview Home in Crawfordsville. She had been in failing health for several years and seriouly ill since September. Born Feb 7, 1877 in Iowa, she was the daughter of David and Merira Beaver Myers. She was married in 1897 to John Harper who died in 1940. Mrs Harper belonged to the Waynetown Christian Church and to the Order of Eastern Star in Waynetown. Since the death of her husband, she had lived with her sons in Crawfordsville. The survivors include two sons, Chester and Thomas Harper of Crawfordsville; three grandsons, Ted and David Harper of Indianapolis and Charles Harper of St. Louis; five great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Cecil Myer of Hillsboro. Mrs. Harper, the last of a family of nine children was preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters and a daughter. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown, with Rev. Keith Carlile in charge. Burial will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
